Research Interests

My current research interests include:

  • software design
  • software evolution analysis
  • developer support
  • search-driven software engineering

My research in general is about building better software. In particular, I aim to integrate valuable tools into a developers IDE to facilitate daily development tasks. For that, I investigate whether and how evolutionary data can be leveraged, i.e., if we can learn from the past to build better software in the future. Another topic that is worth a closer look, are the Semantic Web technologies and how they can contribute to software engineering tasks, for example by integrating data from various repositories and allowing conceptual queries about a system, its history, and also about its development process. Check out my publications if you wish to get a deeper impression of what I was working on recently.

Short Bio

I received my MSc degree in computer science from the University of Zurich in 2007. Currently, I am working toward the doctorate degree and I am a research assistant in the Software Engineering Group in the Department of Informatics at the University of Zurich. I am a student member of the IEEE and the IEEE Computer Society.

Personal Interests

In my spare time I read a lot, mainly science fiction and fantasy literature, but also historical novels. I also like to travel, cook (and eat, of course ;-)), and I was always a passionate player of video and computer games of all kinds. I'm also interested in computer graphics in general, for example I enjoy creating 3D models with Blender 3D in my spare time. In winter, I enjoy snowboarding in the swiss mountains.
